Onigiri with Ulva

Onigiri is a rice ball that is shaped into a triangle and is wrapped in nori seaweed.

Ingredients

  • 2-3 cups of precooked short-grain rice
  • 20 g. Ulva flakes
  • finely chopped beetroot for garnish
  • 1 nori sheet cut into small pieces the size of 1/8 of a nori sheet.

Instructions

  1. Mix all the ingredients, except the nori sheet.
  2. Using wet hands, compress the rice, the Ulva flakes, the chopped beet and create small triangles that would be easy to bite into. You can also use a special onigiri mold available in most Asian specialty shops.
  3. To serve the onigiri, place 1/8 of a nori sheet on each triangle. This makes it easier to hold and eat.
